Photo Recap: Launch Of Turnaround Arts At Delores T Aaron Academy
On Wednesday, October 19, 2016, Dolores T Aaron Academy, a partner school with The Preservation Hall Foundation's education and outreach initiatives, celebrated the launch of "Turnaround Arts."
"Turnaround Arts transforms priority schools through the strategic use of the arts. [They] envision a world in which all students engage in a well-rounded education and exude confidence, critical thinking, and creativity as a result." There are a little over 60 schools in the entire country enrolled in this program and Dolores T Aaron Academy marks the third school to receive this immersive program in New Orleans. The launch of of "Turnaround Arts" at DTA was celebrated by distinguished guests, award winning actress Alfre Woodard, singer-songwriter Graham Nash and the writer David Brooks. The Dolores T Aaron Academy Brass Band, along with trumpeter and member of the Preservation Hall collective Kevin Louis, who works regularly with the young musicians, led a second-line out of the assembly.
