Southeast Louisiana Musicians' Flood Relief Fund

The Preservation Hall Foundation has launched a new emergency relief fund to aid in the replacement of instruments, income-generating gear, studio space and other “tools of the trade” for musicians affected by the recent floods in Southeast Louisiana. 

Creative Director of Preservation Hall, Ben Jaffe, remarked, "I can speak for the musicians of Preservation Hall that it was inconceivable to continue sharing our music after Hurricane Katrina without the immediate support we received from our network around the world. We want to be there for our musical brothers and sisters in Baton Rouge and Lafayette in their time of need.”

One hundred percent of emergency relief funds received will be disbursed directly to professional musicians through a rolling need-based application process. The fund's initial assistance will provide relief for income-generating gear, studio space, and instruments lost in the flood. Any remaining funds after the six-month disbursement period (in February 2017) will be disbursed to local music education programs in the Baton Rouge area.
