Inviting You To The Conversation...

Dear Friends,

If we haven’t met before, this is Ron Rona, Artistic Director for Preservation Hall.  As you may have heard, we’ve been working on the little secret that is The Salon Series at Preservation Hall.

You may have been wondering...What is all this?

In many ways, it’s part of what you've come to expect and love from Preservation Hall: special late night shows, afternoon presentations, and the occasional lecture or multimedia project. We've been so happy with these additional programs and have had such great response from audiences and artists alike that we've decided to take it a step further. We've created a cohesive, thematic season of programming, expanding both our digital content and visual arts offerings, while broadly exploring our musical inspirations. We're deepening the conversation and inviting you in. In many ways, it's really how things started at the Hall.

You may or may not have heard of all the incredible people we'll be working with and showcasing. In many ways, that’s kind of the point! Here at the Hall, we’re fortunate to interact with so many people every day - our resident musicians, visitors from all over the globe, and emerging like-minded artists from New Orleans and beyond. And we’re discovering more about the Hall’s history, New Orleans, and ourselves every day. For instance, did you know that Erle Stanley Gardner (author of the Perry Mason detective series) lived here once? Or that Billie Pierce’s sister Sadie played piano here for many years too?

We’d like to solicit your company as the vanguard of this new series and invite you to be a part of the conversation.

For our inaugural season, we (re)introduce and present to you the return of the New Orleans Ragtime Orchestra, visual artists Bruce Brice and Joseph “Pops” Whitesell, Mia X & The Pinettes Brass Band, a kickoff show for the upcoming “Heart and Soul Queen of New Orleans Tour” featuring the Preservation Legacy Quintet with our friends Irma Thomas and The Blind Boys of Alabama, film screenings, a residency with poet/performer Saul Williams, tributes to the “Ladies of PresHall” and a whole lot more (and even more to be announced). To that end, we formally invite you to the Salon Series at Preservation Hall.

Looking forward to celebrating together,

Ron Rona & The Preservation Hall Family
